"Contempt of court" for removing an accidental fire from a courtroom rather than standing there and waiting for official permission to vacate the premises?  Doesn't seem right to me.

Well, I think the suspicion is that he did it on purpose. Either way, though, he doesn't measure up to the mark set by Clement Vallandigham (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clement_Vallandigham#Death).
