Pyotr Poroschenko has promised to rebuild the Ukraine's "great cultural treasure" using his own money, which, in the way these things go, probably started out as the American taxpayers' money.

Also, yesterday, Stepan Bandera's alma mater (which features a big statue of Bandera out front) also got blown up. The statue survived.

Poroshenko is what's called a "controversial figure".  His company Roshen is the 18ᵗʰ largest confectionery maker on Earth.  Roshen exports to a long list of countries, with the USA quite far down.  So why would the American taxpayer be involved?

I may have wronged the fellow, but I doubt it. As an ex-president of the Ukraine, I'd imagine he has his hands in the foreign aid till like all the others.
