I'm appalled to see that the State Department is requesting $77.4 million dollars in foreign aid for Peru. Peru will host the Pan-American Games this summer. If they have enough wealth to underwrite vanity expenditures such as international sporting events, then surely the American people ought not to be forced to give our tax money to them.

Ol' Jeb! is hoping that someone will challenge Trump in the 2020 primaries. He doesn't seem to be eager to do it himself, for some reason.

John Kasich got humiliated with 10% of the vote as opposed to Trump's 90% in some straw poll in Iowa a week or two back. I liked Kasich as a governor, and I was delighted when he announced his candidacy at the opening ceremony for the Ohio State Fair in 2015. I fully planned to support him. After the way he behaved in 2016, though, I'd not vote for him for dog catcher.

Movie posters that show different content based on facial expression. I don't like it. I've engaged before in discussions by email and message services with earnest marketing types who assure me that I should be excited (that favourite marketeer's word) that a company will tailor advertising to me as an individual.

It leaves me feeling cheated when I don't get to see the same ads that others see. That's irrational, but that's how it is for me. A tailored ad, provided that I recognize it as such, disincentivises me to buy the product.

Posters that read expressions? When will we incorporate facial recognition? It’s disturbing enough to know that every click one makes online can be tracked and attributed to you. Marrying this info with your likeness... their Grail.

But back to movie ads. I’ve always found the trailers to be an odd collections of images aimed to evoke emotions more than give any actual movie information. Most mislead me in a negative “No reason to see that!” sort of way.
