Volcano Time!
Mar. 15th, 2018 10:50 pmThe bizarrely-named Kick 'em Jenny is erupting again. It has to be close to breaking the surface - I do wonder if the resulting island will be called Kick 'em Jenny? Like they say, the first recorded eruption was in 1939, but it was pretty certainly in eruption in May 1902 along with the volcanoes on St. Vincent and Martinique. The sea got hot, and according to sailors the wave patterns made no sense to anyone. One ship apparently got abruptly "dropped" about three feet or so into the water, probably as a result of lowered bouyancy from gas bubbles.

Because it's out in the ocean, I can hope for a big ol' eruption without any sort of guilt, since no-one's being incinerated or having their homes destroyed. I mean honestly, it's kind of foolish to feel guilt anyway, since the volcano is going to erupt or not regardless of whether I enjoy watching it, but that's how it goes.
