W00t! Got my new tractor! It's got some improvements over the old one. For one, there's an engine clock, to show you how many hours it's run, and to remind you to service it. There's also a very clever attachment port on the mower deck, which allows you to couple a hose to it, and wash out the inside of the deck. Hook up the hose, and run the deck for a few minutes to clean out all of the grass, etc. I love that! No more running it up on blocks and spraying underneath with a hose. The implement reverse button (allows you to put the machine in reverse without shutting down the power takeoff) is upgraded to a big yellow one, from its previous status as a tiny, black, unmarked one.

I don't especially like the new-style seat^1 (I'll be putting the old one on it), and the fuel window in the tank has been replaced by a meter that connects to a float indicator ^2. I'm not sure whether that's bad or good. This is easier to read at a glance, but the tank window was pretty much foolproof, and let you see directly what you had.

All of the attachment points seem to be the same, so the old attachments should go on the new one just fine.

Sadly, it rained last night, and the sun has yet to come out today, so I can't mow just yet.

^1 I think I'm not alone in that. The dealer had this prominent display of aftermarket seats.

^2 And apparently *just* replaced. The manual still shows the old style window there.

The numbers on my new bank card are simply printed flat - no embossing. I don't think I've ever had a flat one. It makes me nervous about what will happen if the card needs to be run through one of those things that prints a copy on carbon paper, although, realistically, I think I've maybe had one or two of those done in the past 20 years or so. Time marches on.

I vaguely, vaguely, as a child, recall adults having paper credit cards ("charge cards") that the clerk had to copy the numbers from.

It's Thursday, and I still don't have my new tractor. Deal's closed, paperwork has been delivered and everything, but tractor isn't here yet. Mine got bumped off the truck to accomodate some sort of farm machinery. It's annoying, but on the other paw, I do have to agree that actual farmers should have shipping priority over lawn and garden users, so...
