The Westclox factory burned. The company's been gone for many years, yet they were a favourite brand of clock. They made the Big Ben alarm clocks that I loved.

Meanwhile, in the Congo...

A 'grenade error' during a jailbreak. This just breaks my brain. He knew to pull the pin, but not what to do afterward? And the 'mastermind' of the jailbreak was supposed to be an ex-colonel, too.

Woo... The Daily Mirror has Simon's Cat as a cartoon strip!

From Reuters, via the BBC - ironing the flag before the caususes begin:

I'll go on the record here that if Santorum ends up as the nominee*, I will vote, and possible even campaign, for Obama. A man who wants the Federal government in people's bedrooms and in the doctor's office is in no sense of a word a conservative.

* next to impossible, but a nightmare scenario still

I wasn't aware that there was more than just the animations.

There were a series of animations that started appearing on You Tube a few years back. I thought everyone had seen Simon's Cat :)

I'm familiar with that, yes. He's undoubtedly an evil man, but I still think that's in poor taste.

A failed Senator as a nominee? Yeah, I agree.

Blatant corruption and hate-mongering bother me more than mere incompetence.

I'm Republican, and I'm uncomfortable with all of the Republican candidates. I'm probably the LEAST uncomfortable with Ron Paul.

I'm not real thrilled about any of them, but they would all (with the exception of Santorum) be better than Obama.

Every time I hear Santorum's name all I can think of is the alternate definition Dan Savage proposed for it. No WAY can the word "President" be put before THAT!

I'm glad to see you again! I'd wondered what happened to you.

I've voted in ten Presidential elections in my lifetime. This upcoming one may be the first from which I abstain entirely.

I've voted in eight. That's one seventh of all the Presidential elections. I hadn't really paused to consider that before.

I'm not real excited about any of the choices, but they're all (with the exception of Santorum) better than Obama. It's important to get someone else into office while we still have a functioning country left.

I just tallied some stats on my votes over the years. I voted Democratic 8 times, GOP 2. And just 3 times did the person I voted for win. Only 4 times were my votes affirmative (I voted FOR the candidate), while 6 were votes AGAINST their opponent. All of my FOR candidates were Democrats, but 4 of my AGAINST votes were Democrats, too. Weird voting record, eh!

I think that sums up my feeling too. None of them are exciting candidates. At least a few have had some experience that might have made them into competent bureaucrats who can avoid running the country the rest of the way into the ground.

Obama is the Real Conservativeā„¢ in this race, but you're not supposed to know that.  I would prefer a Liberal, but none of those are running.  Roemer is supposedly a Technocrat, but he couldn't get his campaign engine started and anyway he's a party-flipper which apparently matters more than mere "policies" (with big sarcastic air quotes).

In the same sense that War is Peace and Freedom is Slavery, I suppose that might be a plausible claim.
