New Hampshire gender-reveal explosion felt in Massachusetts. With all of the bloody mayhem that people are causing with gender-reveal parties, it makes me sad that I'm gay. Putting together something which is spectacular but doesn't kill you seems to be something of a Darwinian fitness test.

Germany has created app. 1200 new words to deal with the pandemic. To be fair, making compound words is basically one of the national pastimes there.

I picture the Grim Reaper driving a double sickle-bar mower through India. From the anecdotal accounts (all hospitals in Delhi out of oxygen, all ICUs full, crematoria building pyres in the parking lots, etc) there is no way their casualty reports are remotely accurate.

Yeah, my wife was commenting that India's reporting is seriously undercounted.

Yeah, they're finally admitting to a possible, slight undercount, only because they're so conscientious. I'm seeing multiple, widespread reports of crematoria building five to six times their base capacity in overflow parking-lot pyres, though.

Good. Unfortunately, pestilence alone will not solve the broader problem. We already know that from how humans always rebounded from the plagues of the past. Universal cowardice just might do the trick, though, and that's now a truly global phenomenon. No civilisation of cowards has ever survived, and ours will be no exception.
